When a choom fires up Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty in 2026, they are not exactly getting a neat little side story. The expansion slots its spy-thriller campaign before the base game's endgame, but that does not stop its main questline from serving up a brutal final decision. Four possible endings branch out from that spy saga, and each one lands like a gut punch. Players who are just now diving into Dogtown should know the score: heavy spoilers are on the table, so proceed only if the full picture is not an issue.

How Many Endings Are There in Phantom Liberty?
Phantom Liberty dishes out four distinct endings. The first big fork appears while V is helping Songbird, also known as So Mi, extract the Neural Matrix at Kurt Hansen's Stadium base in Dogtown. Depending on whether players help Songbird escape or stall for Solomon Reed, a second choice pops up later and changes the whole vibe. It is a proper spy-game setup: nobody gets a spotless exit, and V's own ticking Relic problem hangs over every move.

| First Big Choice | Second Big Choice | Songbird's Fate | Reed's Fate | V's Situation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Help Songbird escape | Keep helping at the shuttle | Goes to the Moon | Killed by V | No new ending, still dying |
| Help Songbird escape | Call Reed and make a deal | Captured by FIA | Lives | Gets Neural Matrix, new ending unlocked |
| Stall for Reed at the Stadium | Kill Songbird at Cynosure | Dies | Lives but furious | No new ending, no Relic help |
| Stall for Reed at the Stadium | Spare Songbird | Captured and operated on | Lives | Gets Neural Matrix, new ending unlocked |
Phantom Liberty Endings, One by One
Kill Solomon Reed
Players who help Songbird escape with the Neural Matrix choose loyalty over the FIA. The plan is to reach the Night City spaceport and put So Mi on a shuttle to the Moon, where the Neural Matrix supposedly fixes both V and Songbird. President Myers and Solomon Reed show up to stop the departure, and the whole thing turns into a firefight.
On the train, So Mi drops the bomb: the Neural Matrix only works for one person, and she always planned to save herself. At the shuttle, Reed confronts V and Songbird. If players go full send and keep protecting Songbird, V shoots Reed dead. Songbird flies off to the Moon, and V remains stuck in the same dying-body situation from before the DLC started.

Kill Songbird
On the other side of the first choice, players can stall during the Stadium heist to give Reed a chance to capture So Mi. Things go sideways fast. Songbird realizes something is off, and the Blackwall corruption sends her into a full cyberpsycho rampage in Dogtown. During the chaos, Kurt Hansen kills Alex, and V has to put Hansen down. Reed gets V out as MaxTac grabs Songbird.
When V later tracks Songbird into the Cynosure bunker while a corrupted Cerberus guard robot hunts them, Songbird is already circling the drain. She begs V to unplug her and end it. If players choose to kill Songbird, Reed shows up, and the two deliver her body to President Myers. The president is not happy, Reed is not happy, and V receives no Relic help. Reed does eventually admit that maybe killing Songbird was the right call, but that does not rebuild the burned bridges.

Spare Songbird
If players take the same pro-Reed branch but refuse to kill Songbird at the Cynosure core, V instead waits for Reed. Songbird is devastated and says V handed her a fate worse than death. Reed and V bring her to President Myers, who is grateful enough to offer V a medal. Later, Reed explains that Songbird's Blackwall corruption was too advanced for the Neural Matrix cure, but surgery can keep her alive at the cost of her personality. The Neural Matrix, however, gets saved for V. This route unlocks the new ending for the main story of Cyberpunk 2077.

Agree to Solomon Reed's Deal
Back at the shuttle branch, there is a quieter, more cynical play. After Songbird's betrayal on the train, V can take Johnny Silverhand's advice and call Reed to make a deal. Reed offers exactly that just before the point where helping Songbird would force V to kill him. If V hands Songbird over, Reed gives V the Neural Matrix. Songbird is taken by the FIA, and Reed later contacts V to kick off the new main-story ending for Cyberpunk 2077.
Johnny, being Johnny, even says he almost feels sorry for her. It is one of those Phantom Liberty moments where the 'win' tastes like ash. Players who grab this cure should also avoid calling Reed too soon after the DLC ends, because that call leads to a point of no return for the main game.

The Bottom Line
All four outcomes keep the tone of the rest of the game: somber, messy, and weirdly human. There is no golden path where everyone walks away whole. Johnny Silverhand chips in with his usual philosophical one-liners, but even he does not have a clean answer. For players hunting the new ending, the routes worth remembering are either sparing Songbird after the Cynosure chase or making a deal with Reed at the shuttle. Both put the Neural Matrix in V's hands and open the new conclusion to the base game. Just be ready for the emotional toll, because Night City does not hand out happy endings like candy.
